Paul Vernon, our main contact with David, and the person that has worked hours contacting people by email, phone calls, and even visits, to assure that David had a place to stay each night as he walked through France. Once he made the contact and arrangement were made, the kind person that accomodated David would take his baggage to the next stop, so David could walk with a light load. As he arrived in each place, the doors were open with good food, showers, rest, and evening visits before retiring to bed to rest for the next day's journey.

Below are phone calls, comments, and emails that have transpired between some of the wonderful people that have welcomed and help David, and Paul or Jim.

This is an email from David and Maureen. They welcome David at their home in Pujo. Then Maureen carried his bags to Mme Barou at the Hotel Castel de Mirambel in Lourdes who agreed to receive it and hold on to it until David arrives.

Hello Paul. Just back from Lourdes having dropped off David's bags. David left this morning at seven and I saw him just after nine on the outskirts of Tarbes. He is making good progress and is obviously happy it is the last leg, albeit the longest one. I estimate he will enter Lourdes at four thirty to five allowing for two breaks on his journey. Lourdes will be packed so it is a great shame that there will not be anyone there to cheer him on as he arrives at the end of a wonderful effort and one that he is desparate to talk about! A great man to be admired; it was a pleasure to meet him and offer a little hospitality.
Kind wishes
David and Maureen (not Pauline!!)
